Naan bread is a thin Indian bread that pairs well with hearty stews but is also fantastic with grilled foods. Here, we’re sharing a recipe for naan bread made with sourdough, sesame seeds, garlic butter, and parsley.
You can freeze rolled-out pieces of dough and then take them out and thaw a few at a later time. Don't keep the dough in the freezer for more than 1 week; after that, the yeast loses its effectiveness.
Here's how:
-
1
Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm liquid (water and milk).
-
2
Mix all the ingredients for 3 minutes on low speed, then 6 minutes on a higher speed.
-
3
Take the dough out and knead it into a round shape, then put it back in the bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let the dough rest for 60 minutes.
-
4
Take the dough and divide it into 16 pieces, which you shape into round buns; place them on a floured baking sheet and cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let rise for 30 minutes.
-
5
Preheat the oven to 275 °C and place a clean baking sheet in the upper part of the oven.
-
6
Roll out the pieces of dough into oval shapes about 0.5 cm thick, brush the surface with water, and sprinkle with a few sesame seeds.
Here, you can choose to freeze some of the rolled-out pieces of dough.
-
7
Bake directly on the hot griddle for about 4 minutes; two at a time is just right.
Remove the bread with a spatula.
-
8
Brush the warm bread with garlic butter and sprinkle with a little chopped parsley.
