Danish apple slices, or Danish doughnuts, are a type of round pancake with a piece of apple or jam in the center. You can use a regular pancake griddle, but if you have a doughnut pan with round holes, they’ll turn out more like classic Danish doughnuts.

Melt the butter and warm the milk. Then mix in the yeast and sugar. Next, stir in the flour, egg yolks, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom, and mix the batter until it’s smooth.

Let the batter rest for about 30 minutes.

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the batter just before baking.

Melt a little butter in the pancake pan and pour a spoonful of batter into each hole in the pan. Once the pancake is cooked on one side, you can add a slice of apple or a dollop of jam, and then flip it over.
