Stick bread is fun to make in the woods. You can easily pack the dough in a bag. It doesn't hurt to let it rise a little longer. It's also fun to stand around the fire and wrap the dough around sticks to bake over glowing coals.
Here's how:
-
1
Dissolve the yeast in water (about 25 °C) in a bowl. Add honey and flour, and mix well.
-
2
Add salt and knead well for about 5 minutes until the dough is smooth. Let it rise under a kitchen towel for about 40 minutes.
-
3
Divide the dough into twelve pieces. Roll them into long strips and twist them around skewers. Grill them on all sides over indirect heat for about 5 minutes, until they’re nicely browned and cooked through.
Tip!
Flavor the dough with grated cheese.
