Bake your own Barkis, toast, and rolls.

Here's how:

Crumble the yeast. Melt the margarine and mix it with the milk and water. Pour this mixture over the yeast and add the salt, sugar, and then the flour.

Knead into a dough, about 12–15 minutes using a mixer. Let rise for about 30 minutes.

Let it rise until it doubles in size—about 30 more minutes.

Brush with a beaten egg and sprinkle with your choice of topping.

Loaves: Bake at 225 °C until the internal temperature reaches 96 °C, about 35 minutes.
Rolls: Bake at 225 °C until the internal temperature reaches 92 °C, about 10–12 minutes.

- 2 packets (100 g) KronJäst for Bread
- 30 g (5 tsp) salt
- 20 g (4 tsp) granulated sugar
- 50 g margarine or butter
- 500 g (5 dl) milk, cold
- 500 g (5 dl) water, cold
- 1,200 g (about 20 dl) all-purpose flour
- 350 g (about 6 dl) graham flour, or other whole-grain flour

- 1 egg, beaten
Garnish
- poppy seeds, or another favorite topping
