    Here's how:

      Heat the milk to 20 °C. Then stir in the butter.

      Crumble the yeast into a large bowl. Pour the milk mixture into the bowl and add salt. Add the grated carrots, all-purpose flour, and rye flour to the bowl, and knead the dough thoroughly, either with a stand mixer or by hand.

      Let the dough rise, covered, for 30 minutes in the bowl.

      Shape the dough into 18 buns and let them rise, covered, for 30 minutes.

      Bake the buns for about 9–10 minutes in the middle of the oven at 225 °C.

    Tip!

    • The buns stay fresh and soft for about 4 days, but they freeze really well! You can also make a loaf of bread instead of buns—just bake the bread in the oven for about 15 minutes.

    • 350 g (3.5 dl) milk
    • 75 g (0.75 dl) butter
    • 3 carrots, large, grated
    • 6 g (1 tsp) salt
    • 480 g (about 8 dl) all-purpose flour
    • 240 g (about 4 dl) rye flour
