    Here's how:

    • 1

      Day 1

Dissolve the yeast in the cold milk.

    • 2

Mix all the ingredients on low speed for 4 minutes.

    • 3

Increase the speed and mix the dough on high for about 4 minutes.

    • 4

Place the dough on a floured work surface, divide it into two equal pieces, shape them into rounds, and let them rest for a minute or so.

    • 5

Roll out the dough pieces into circles that fit two 24-cm springform pans lined with parchment paper. Place the dough in the pans and set them on a baking sheet. Prick the dough thoroughly with a fork or pastry pricker.

Place the baking sheets in your turned-off oven with only the light on (max 35 °C) and let the dough rise for about 50 minutes. Remove the baking sheet with the risen dough to room temperature and preheat the oven to 250 °C.

Place the bread in the oven once it's hot, then reduce the temperature to 210 °C. Bake for about 18 minutes or until the bread is a nice golden brown.

    • 8

Let the bread cool, then wrap it in plastic wrap.

      Day 2

If you like, you can carefully trim the top of the bread before cutting it into 3 layers, since the top is usually quite rough. Fill with your choice of fillings and decorate the cake to your liking.

      Hot sandwiches

If you'd rather make hot sandwiches, cut the bread into the desired sizes and fill them with your choice of fillings.

      Garlic Bread

Cut into the desired size, spread a generous amount of garlic butter on both sides, and fry in a skillet until the bread is a nice golden brown and crispy; serve immediately.
