Homemade garlic bread baked in a baking sheet is a wonderful accompaniment to a meal. This bread pairs well with grilled foods on a lovely summer evening or with tapas.
Baking garlic bread is much easier than you think, and you'll definitely want to make it again!
Here's how:
-
1
Dissolve the yeast in the water. Add the rest of the ingredients for the dough to a mixing bowl along with the yeast. Knead the dough in a stand mixer for about 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth. Double that time if you’re kneading by hand. Cover the mixing bowl and let the dough rest for about 30 minutes.
-
2
Make the garlic butter. Melt the butter in a saucepan and set it aside. Finely chop the herbs, grate the garlic cloves, and stir them into the butter.
-
3
Divide the dough into 36 equal pieces, about 35 g each, and roll them into small buns. Dip the buns in the garlic butter, then place them on a baking sheet (about 40×35 cm) lined with parchment paper. Be sure to leave a little space between the buns, as they will rise and spread out. Stir the butter occasionally so that the herbs and garlic are evenly distributed over the buns.
-
4
Cover the pan with plastic wrap and let rise for about 60–90 minutes, or until the buns have doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 230 °C.
-
5
Place the pan in the center of the oven and lower the temperature to 190 °C after placing it inside. Bake for about 25 minutes or until the bread has turned a nice, golden color.
-
6
Sprinkle a little of the finely chopped herbs and flaky salt over the dish before serving.
