    Here's how:

    • 1

Crumble the yeast into a bowl, add lukewarm water, and stir until the yeast has dissolved.

    • 2

Add salt, syrup or honey, and flour. Work the ingredients together quickly to form a smooth but loose dough.

    • 3

Sprinkle a little wheat flour over the dough, cover the bowl with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 2 hours.

    • 4

Preheat the oven to 250 °C.

    • 5

Sprinkle about 1 dl of wheat flour on the baking surface. Gently turn the dough out onto the surface without kneading it. Sprinkle a little flour on top of the dough.

    • 6

Gently roll out the dough—without letting too much air escape—to a size of 35×30 cm.

    • 7

Cut the dough into 5 strips, preferably using a dough scraper. Divide each strip into 3 pieces.

    • 8

Place the bread on two baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake immediately in the center of the oven for about 15–18 minutes, while the other baking sheet is set aside to cool slightly. Then bake the second baking sheet. Let cool without a baking cloth.
