This delicious pastry contains more butter and eggs than a typical wheat dough. Take advantage of apple harvest season—it's fun to vary your baking when there are plenty of apples available.
Here's how:
-
1
Crumble the yeast into a bowl. Pour in the warmed milk, egg, and sugar, and stir until smooth.
-
2
Then mix in the wheat flour, baking powder, and melted butter, and knead into a smooth dough. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, covered with a kitchen towel.
-
3
Divide it into two parts, shape them into two round balls, and then roll them out into round, 0.5 cm-thick discs. First, cut them in half, and then cut each half into 6–8 wedges.
-
4
Spread a little applesauce on the widest part and sprinkle with a little cinnamon. Roll them up into crescents.
-
5
Let it rise, covered, for 40–50 minutes. Preheat the oven to 230 °C.
-
6
Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with almond slivers. Baking time: about 8 minutes.
